Recorded in Vienna during the early 1960s in stereo, Max Goberman's recordings of the Haydn Symphonies were notable for their attempt to reflect as much as possible the composer's wishes, in terms of orchestral balance, repeats, tempi etc. Although to some extant over-taken by the historically informed performance movement, Goberman's realisations continue to be of the greatest interest. These three symphonies, which sit naturally together, were not originally released on LP as a single whole.
