The second volume in CRQ Editions' popular series of recordings of the British conductor Percy Pitt is devoted to the Italian repertoire, with operatic overtures and selections by Rossini, Verdi, Leoncavallo and Wolf-Ferrari, as well as orchestral works by Drigo and Boccherini (the Minuet featured in he film 'The Ladykillers') and a selection from the Rossini / Respighi ballet 'La Boutique Fantasque'. Superb restorations by Damian Rogan of the original 78s allow for a full appreciation of this neglected conductor's art.
