Recordings conducted by Anton Nanut are ubiquitous within the bargain record racks of Europe and the USA. It could be argued that the linkage of his recordings with low price may have negatively affected the perception of the high levels of achievement actually demonstrated by these recordings.

This release seeks to illustrate the high standards attained by Nanut and the Radio Ljubljana Symphony Orchestra in their core repertoire. Their recording of Mahler's Fourth Symphony is of particular interest in that it uses a boy soprano (Max Emanuel Cencic) for the vocal part in the final movement of the Symphony, to remarkable effect. (Mahler's second professional appointment was as a conductor at the Landestheater Ljubljana, from 1881 to 1882).
